450 Word Statement

Manchester School of Architecture is the perfect place to study for any creative soul, with an architectural dream of making a statement in this world. Being one of the best Universities in the architectural field, any student with the goal of being an architect would want to graduate at MSA.

Personally, I think that MSA is a ‘full package’ for anyone seeking to have a prosperous future. The fact that it’s located in one of the main cities in the United Kingdom, it provides an incredible variety of architectural inspiration, creativity and innovation. Being one of the top universities in the League Table, it has proven to be a very successful university which has a high percentage of satisfied students and within six months after graduation, the majority are able to build their careers. These figures and the fact that Sir Norman Foster studied at MSA, have led me to believe that through MSA, I can be someone successful in today’s highly competitive environment.

Despite not having a lot of artistic experience, due to lack of resources in Mozambique, I have grown to love architectural buildings, given my familiarity with worldwide tourism, which has increased my knowledge in this specific field. Becoming a student at MSA would certainly improve my designing abilities.

Recently I have witnessed many great architectural pieces, such as the tallest twin towers in the world, located in Kuala Lumpur. It was an incredible experience to go up the tall skyscraper, and see the whole city from one angle. Through my tour, I was fascinated on how architect Cesar Pelli came up with the idea to build two exact same towers, next to one another.

Zaha Hadid is undoubtedly my favourite architect, my role model.  Her buildings are breath-taking and unique, with each structure being completely different from the other. Her building designs are just simply astonishing. She stands as an inspiration to all women and through her designs, it increases my desire in becoming a world known architect. The Heydar Aliyev Centre in Azerbaijan designed by her is one of the buildings on my bucket list which I would love to explore, observe and study every detail of its unique structure and curved exterior.

Many famous architects that have come and gone all had one thing in common; for them to go around the various cities of the world, pointing out saying, ”I designed that building”, and that is exactly what I want to do. Words cannot describe my admiration and respect towards architecture. How these great architects come with ideas and creativity is admirable. Having written this small but helpful statement, I strongly hope that it was enough to show how passionate I am towards architecture.
